Last Chance to Enter Habitat’s Trashion Show
Are you a fashionista and sustainability-minded? Today is the last day to enter your designs in the Habitat for Humanity in Whatcom County 2025 Trashion Show. What is the Trashion Show? It’s a creative celebration where designers craft stunning outfits from at least 75% trash, reclaimed, or recycled materials—like plastic, paper, or cardboard—that can be safely worn on a runway.

The 6th annual Trashion Show happens May 3rd (mark your calendar), celebrating eco-fashion and supporting affordable housing in Whatcom County. This year’s theme, Whimsical Wonderland, will feature a colorful circus runway set in a candy-coated fairytale landscape. Tickets are available now for a night of fashion, or move quick and submit a design to participate in the show.

Crash an Open House

1699 Skagit Street (Open Sat 12-1:30 pm)
I’m not sure what the backstory is on this home, but I LOVE it! It’s basically a split-level with two full units that share an entry. More homes in Whatcom should be built creatively like this. Let’s broaden our horizons about what multi-family looks like and create rich spaces for families to live, and share. Love it! Listing.

1308 W Illinois Street (Open Sat 11-1 pm)
I stopped at a garage sale at this home a couple of years back and remember thinking how cute it was. It’s little, with a low-pitch roofline, giving it the feel of a sweet cabin in the heart of town. Love the spot, love the house, adore the neighborhood. Listing.
