🐹 Feed a Pig a Pumpkin 🐷🐷

Good morning, Bellingham. This is your Friday update from The Hamster Wheel.

We caught a lucky break with the weather last night. No rain fell on Goul or Goblin.

It’s one o’clock somewhere; go ahead and have that leftover mini-Twix for breakfast. 😉

Put that pumpkin to good use… feed a pig.

Halloween is over, and Widnor Farms in Custer has a fun solution for all those wilting pumpkins. Feed um’ to the pigs!!

Brianna and Ryan, ranchers at Widnor Farms, have extended a public invitation for an event they call The Great Pumpkin Rescue this Saturday (Nov 2) from 10-2. Bring your leftover pumpkins from home (no moldy or painted ones) and feed them to their happy, forest-raised pigs. 🐷 There will be free hot cocoa and cookies. There will be pigs ranging from 9-week little oinkers to 700-pound mommas!

Widnor Farms is located at 1858 W Badger Rd Custer.

November 5th Election Countdown

Election season is coming to a nail-biting finish. 😬 If you’re interested in the current ballot return statistics, the Secretary of State maintains a fascinating resource that shows current turnout, statewide and by county. They also provide a tool to check the current status of your ballot.

We won’t opine on politics, but we will help guide you to the official ballot drop box locations in Bellingham and Sudden Valley.

  • 247 Grand Ave (Courthouse South Parking Lot)

  • 311 Grand Ave (Courthouse Rotunda)

  • 3055 Woburn St (Barkley Village)

  • 516 High St (WWU, Red Square)

  • 1880 Bill McDonald Pkwy (Wade King Student Recreation Center)

  • 210 36th St (Sehome Haggens)

  • 620 W Kellogg Rd (Whatcom Community College)

  • 2020 Lake Whatcom Blvd (Sudden Valley)

The Whatcom County website states that: “All drop boxes will open on October 16 and will close at 8:00 pm sharp on Election Day November 5.“

Crash an Open House

2231 King Street (Open: Sat 12-2, Sun 12-1:30)
This one’s a darling bungalow in the Sunnyland neighborhood. Someone did a beautiful job giving this home a rad second life with great landscaping and an interior to match. The stairs alone are worth a trip to check out. Listing.

4359 Sucia Drive on Sandy Point (Open Sunday 11-1)
I love everything about this one. It’s a sweet rambler on the beach in the Sandy Point neighborhood. The Interior has that PNW seaside chic… so cute. I’m lounging on the beach already 😁. Listing.
