Cultural Arts Center Opening In Ferndale

The community of Ferndale is celebrating the grand opening of it’s new cultural arts center on Saturday (Nov 16), from 11am to 6pm.

Swing by It's About Time Cultural Arts Center to enjoy artwork by Whatcom County artists, showcasing a variety of mediums. Experience the creativity of featured artists Rock Morris, Gordon Nealy, Vaune Ainsworth, Renee Cheesman, Ḵaa Shaayí Kéet’aakw, and Sasch Stephens. Details.

Lummi Nation Receives Grant for Fisherman’s Cove Marina Dock

Senator Maria Cantwell announced that the Lummi Nation has been awarded an 11+ million dollar grant from the Port Infrastructure Development Program to replace a pier at Fisherman’s Cove Marina Dock at Gooseberry Point Waterfront on the Lummi Reservation.

The announcement notes that the “450 Lummi Nation fishing vessels make up the largest tribal fishing fleet in the world,” and that the funds will be used to demolish and replace the pier, and purchase an electric lift and four cranes.”
