Aurora Borealis Viewing Potential Continues Friday

On Wednesday, NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) issued a G4 geomagnetic storm watch for Thursday and today (Friday), raising the likelihood of northern lights viewing here in Bellingham. While last night provided the most likely viewing, a chance exists for a peek at the Aurora Borealis tonight as well!

SWPC stresses the unpredictability of these events, so as evening nears keep an eye on the NOAA Aurora Viewline Prediction Map.

Shuck & Steins: Blaine’s OysterFest - Deming’s Oktoberfest

Join the Drayton Harbor Oyster Co., on Saturday (October 12), for the 3rd Annual Blaine OysterFest and enjoy fresh, juicy oysters straight from Drayton Harbor. Kick-start your morning with specialty coffee available at DHO’s Farm Store, and secure your OysterFest tickets as early as 8 AM. Watch the Drayton Harbor Oyster staff battle for the Shucking Champ crown. While the adults enjoy the competition, kids can embark on an exciting Oyster EggHunt. Details.

Did you fill your belly with Oysters in Blaine? Head east to the Deming Log Show Grounds for an Oktoberfest festival benefitting the Busted Up Loggers Fund. The festival includes live music (The Pokatones, and Pickled Herring Band), dancing, Bavarian food, stein holding competition, free dry camping, and a free beer stein with admission! Must be 21 to attend. Details.

Free Skate at the Depot Market Square

Tonight (Friday), the City of Bellingham is hosting a free, all-ages roller skating night at the Depot Market Square from 6-8 PM. Bring your roller skates/roller blades and a helmet, and join in the fun! Details.

Trails to Taps Relay on Sunday

The Trails to Taps Relay website says it all:

“You and your friends teaming up to run from brewery to brewery with a party at the end. What isn’t great about that?”

Eight stops at breweries and cideries throughout Bellingham. 35 miles of trails, roads, and parks with leg lengths between 3 and 6 miles. 4-8 runners per team.
